Rudy Project, winner of the #1 Most Worn Helmet at the IRONMAN® World Championship for six consecutive years, unveiled their newly engineered flip-up visor for the award-winning, top-selling Wing57 helmet today. The fully functional, removable flip-up ergonomic design is aimed at providing a durable and versatile optical shield solution for some of the world’s toughest endurance athletes and weekend warriors. As of today, all Wing57 helmet shipments from Rudy Project North America will now come standard with the new flip-up visor. More importantly, Rudy Project North America announced anyone who has purchased a Wing57 prior to this announcement will be offered a free Smoke flip-up visor when they pay the associated shipping and handling costs through a dedicated online order portal.
“The new removable flip-up visor makes the Wing57 the ultimate customizable aero helmet,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-Founder of Rudy Project North America. “It’s faster through T1, it’s more secure, and it’s compatible with almost every Wing57 out there. We’re excited to provide a new and improved, masterfully engineered flip-up visor that re-enforces why we are the #1 helmet at Kona for the last 6 years in a row. Since the visor is completely removable, riders who prefer wearing glasses can do so easily. And to include all our current owners in the exciting news is awesome. We’re offering anyone who purchased a Wing57 prior to today a free Smoke Flip-up visor provided they pay the associated costs to get it to them. We want all our athletes to have the best and latest technology while they train and race. We hope this move upholds our motto to ‘Elevate Your Performance’ for all our athletes.”
The new removable visor sits in a secure flip-up attachment that is inserted directly into the helmet and folds upwards, making the helmet easier to get on – an ideal feature in T1. In the downward position, the visor locks into place thanks to discretely placed magnets, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit while the aerodynamics of the helmet reduce the chances of fogging and wind drag during long rides. The wraparound shield style provides an unparalleled field of vision and complements the Wing57’s sleek, aerodynamic Italian styling. The helmet’s other features, like the aerodynamic styling of John Cobb with the detachable Jetstream tail, lend the wearer an intimidating silhouette. In the words of Andy Potts, “I feel like a fighter pilot when I wear it.” Building on Rudy Project RP-Optics advanced polycarbonate technology, the visor (available in Smoke, Transparent, and eye-popping Multilaser Orange) also features cutting-edge coatings for superior optical protection against harmful UV rays, eliminating annoying glare and reducing eye fatigue.
“Previous iterations of the Wing57 visor inserted the lens directly into the underside of the front of the helmet and did not flip-up which made it hard to put the helmet on quickly in T1,” said Craig. “With this new design, you can breeze through T1, and it’s effortless to snap in and out if you wanted to swap lenses, or remove it altogether.” The Wing57 helmet, coupled with the new optical shield design, ensures maximized protection and aerodynamic performance, thanks to the Vortex-Killer air circulation system. The ever-popular helmet is the same model that Heather Jackson rode to victory in Kona 2016 as the first American female to podium in a decade.
Customers who have previously purchased a Wing57 helmet from an authorized Rudy Project North America dealer or website can obtain a new, free Smoke visor between now and July 31, 2017 for a $14.99 USD shipping and handling fee within the Continental US; $29.99 USD in Canada, HI, AK, PR, USVI and Guam. In other related news, the newly improved Wing57 helmet, available in two brand new fluo colors this year (Pink and Yellow), is also backed by Rudy Project North America’s ‘Best Helmet Warranty and Crash Replacement Warranty on the Planet,’ a game changing policy introduced last year that guarantees every single Rudy Project helmet bought in North America is covered up to 6 years for crash replacement, as well as up to 3 years against manufacturer defects and workmanship. The combination of these policies was heralded by cyclists, mountain bikers, in-line speed skaters, adrenaline junkies, and triathletes everywhere as they now have access to the best helmet policies on the planet, in addition to Rudy Project’s advanced technologies, aerodynamic styling, and cutting-edge designs.
With the establishment of the new expanded 6-year crash warranty period, the replacement discount has been increased to 55% off MSRP. This announcement is historic, as Rudy Project is the only manufacturer in the industry to offer 55% off a crash replacement for up to 6 years after original purchase.
For over 30 years, Rudy Project has been trusted by elite racers, amateur athletes, and consumers all over the world to keep them protected, stylish, and riding at the head of the pack. By offering a brand new flip-up optical visor for the Wing57 and a free replacement option for current owners, coupled with the ‘Best Helmet Warranty and Crash Replacement on the Planet,’ our athletes can feel secure knowing that their gear is backed by an unbeatable warranty offered by a company that listens to their feedback and more importantly, acts on it to get results. These distinguished programs serve to solidify Rudy Project’s commitment to creating the world’s best products with amazing service, warranties, and customer-oriented policies.
